Lockdown extended till 30th May

Lockdown 5.0 greets containment zone with no relief to offer

A day before the endpoint of Lockdown 4.0, the Centre inaugurates Lockdown 5.0 (also referring to Unlock 1.0) lengthening up to 30th of June. Taking charge from 1st of June, Lockdown 5.0 will focus on restoring the economic liveliness beyond the fences of containment zones. Following the footsteps of new guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, phased re-opening will be practised in obedience to Unlock-1. The new guidelines have been issued based on the extensive consultations bounded between Centre, States and UT’s. However, containment zones need to track the protocols listed under Cluster Containment Strategy.

The first phase of restoration is scheduled to begin from 8th of June. It will allow, religious places, hotels, restaurants, hospitality services and shopping malls to restore to commonness practising the Standard Operating Procedures(SOP’s) set by the Health Ministry. Moreover, Phase-II is expected to enact in the coming weeks of July. It deals with the restoration of education sectors. The decision regarding the same is yet under observation as Centre, States and UT’s are exchanging words in order to adopt a common conclusion. Also, MoHFW is experimenting to prepare an anti-CoViD-19 SOP for the education sector.

Sectors such as International-Aviation, Metro-Rails, Cinema & Theatres, Gyms, Entertainment Parks, Swimming Pools, Bars, Auditorium and similar places are still enlisted under prohibition. Social, Political, Sports and similar gatherings will also not be allowed. All the activities listed above are expected to be considered and conversed upon in the third phase.

Night curfew is still active throughout the nation. Fortunately, timings have been revised as 9 pm -5 am. In spite of extended relief, citizens are directed to strictly follow the norms. Social distancing needs to be taken strict care of. States and UT’s are directed to decide allowance of activities beyond containment zones.

What is a Containment Zone?

A Containment Zone is a geographical boundary fenced with barricades due to the local outbreak of CoVid-19 in accordance to Cluster Containment Strategy. People in these zones are asked to stay in their houses and stepping out makes them vulnerable to judicial actions against them. Also, a rapid response team is taken into business in order to conduct tests and provide medical assistance.
Only essential items are allowed to be sold in these areas.
